Teks is a pinoy game that utilizes trading cards played by two or more persons. Each player assigns his own unique card, which will be thrown up to the air by the assigned player. The players may take turns in throwing the competing cards after every round. No physical intervention shall be made once the cards are released until they stay on the ground.
The Verdict
Just like a coin, the card has its corresponding head and tail. The head is the front of the card, the tail is, errr, its back. The card with its head up wins the game. The winner takes the losing card (or any other card in exchange) or the “pot” (see variation 1 below).
In case of a multiplayer, the winning cards after a round are competed again for the next round. The sole winner takes all losing cards.
Variations
- The players may agree on the number of cards as “pot” for every game.
- The competing cards (which is called “ayan” [homonym of Ian] in Cebuano) are usually of the same sizes. The players may also agree on different sizes.
